Exodus 2 | King James Bible |
Chapter 3 | |
| Now Moses kept1 7462 6 the flock of Jethro his father in law,6 the priest of Midian: and he led4 the flock to the backside of the desert, and came4 to the mountain of God, [even] to Horeb. |
| And the angel of the LORD appeared11 unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked,4 and, behold, the bush burned6 with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed.30 |
| And Moses said,4 I will now turn aside,4 and see4 this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.4 |
| And when the LORD saw4 that he turned aside1 to see,2 God called4 unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said,4 Moses, Moses. And he said,4 Here [am] I. |
| And he said,4 Draw not nigh4 hither: put off3 thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest6 [is] holy ground. |
| Moreover he said,4 I [am] the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid55 his face; for he was afraid1 to look53 upon God. |
| And the LORD said,4 I have surely2 seen1 the affliction of my people which [are] in Egypt, and have heard1 their cry by reason of their taskmasters;6 for I know1 their sorrows; |
| And I am come down4 to deliver53 them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up53 out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing6 with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. |
| Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come1 unto me: and I have also seen1 the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress5 them. |
| Come3 now therefore, and I will send4 thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth54 my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. |
| And Moses said4 unto God, Who [am] I, that I should go4 unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth55 the children of Israel out of Egypt? |
| And he said,4 Certainly I will be with thee; and this [shall be] a token unto thee, that I have sent1 thee: When thou hast brought forth53 the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve4 God upon this mountain. |
| And Moses said4 unto God, Behold, [when] I come6 unto the children of Israel, and shall say1 unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent1 me unto you; and they shall say1 to me, What [is] his name? what shall I say4 unto them? |
| And God said4 unto Moses, I AM4 THAT I AM:4 and he said,4 Thus shalt thou say4 unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent1 me unto you. |
| And God said4 moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say4 unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent1 me unto you: this [is] my name for ever, and this [is] my memorial unto all generations. |
| Go,3 and gather1 the elders of Israel together, and say1 unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared8 unto me, saying,2 I have surely2 visited1 you, and [seen] that which is done7 to you in Egypt: |
| And I have said,4 I will bring you up55 out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing6 with milk and honey. |
| And they shall hearken1 to thy voice: and thou shalt come,1 thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say1 unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met8 with us: and now let us go,4 we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice4 to the LORD our God. |
| And I am sure1 that the king of Egypt will not let4 you go,2 no, not by a mighty hand. |
| And I will stretch out1 my hand, and smite52 Egypt with all my wonders12 which I will do4 in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.17 |
| And I will give1 this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go,4 ye shall not go4 empty: |
| But every woman shall borrow1 of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth6 in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put1 [them] upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil14 the Egyptians. |
