Chapter 3

A Psalm of David, when he fled² from Absalom his son.
LORD, how are they increased¹ that trouble me! many [are] they that rise up⁵ against me.

Many [there be] which say⁶ of my soul, [There is] no help for him in God. Selah.

But thou, O LORD, [art] a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up⁵⁶ of mine head.

I cried⁴ unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard⁴ me out of his holy hill. Selah.

I laid me down¹ and slept;⁴ I awaked;⁵² for the LORD sustained⁴ me.

I will not be afraid⁴ of ten thousands of people, that have set¹ [themselves] against me round about.

Arise,³ O LORD; save⁵⁴ me, O my God: for thou hast smitten⁵² all mine enemies⁶ [upon] the cheek bone; thou hast broken¹⁴ the teeth of the ungodly.

Salvation [belongeth] unto the LORD: thy blessing [is] upon thy people. Selah.
