Chapter 41

1

To the chief Musician,18 A Psalm of David.
Blessed [is] he that considereth56 the poor: the LORD will deliver17 him in time of trouble.

2

The LORD will preserve4 him, and keep him alive;17 [and] he shall be blessed27 upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver4 him unto the will of his enemies.6

3

The LORD will strengthen4 him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make1 all his bed in his sickness.

4

I said,1 LORD, be merciful3 unto me: heal3 my soul; for I have sinned1 against thee.

5

Mine enemies6 speak4 evil of me, When shall he die,4 and his name perish?1

6

And if he come1 to see2 [me], he speaketh17 vanity: his heart gathereth4 iniquity to itself; [when] he goeth4 abroad, he telleth17 [it].

7

All that hate6 me whisper101 together against me: against me do they devise4 my hurt.

8

An evil disease, [say they], cleaveth fast7 unto him: and [now] that he lieth1 he shall rise up2 no more.55

9

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,1 which did eat6 of my bread, hath lifted up52 [his] heel against me.

10

But thou, O LORD, be merciful3 unto me, and raise me up,54 that I may requite17 them.

11

By this I know1 that thou favourest1 me, because mine enemy6 doth not triumph55 over me.

12

And as for me, thou upholdest1 me in mine integrity, and settest55 me before thy face for ever.

13

Blessed7 [be] the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
