Chapter 41

To the chief Musician,¹⁸ A Psalm of David.
Blessed [is] he that considereth⁵⁶ the poor: the LORD will deliver¹⁷ him in time of trouble.

The LORD will preserve⁴ him, and keep him alive;¹⁷ [and] he shall be blessed²⁷ upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver⁴ him unto the will of his enemies.⁶

The LORD will strengthen⁴ him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make¹ all his bed in his sickness.

I said,¹ LORD, be merciful³ unto me: heal³ my soul; for I have sinned¹ against thee.

Mine enemies⁶ speak⁴ evil of me, When shall he die,⁴ and his name perish?¹

And if he come¹ to see² [me], he speaketh¹⁷ vanity: his heart gathereth⁴ iniquity to itself; [when] he goeth⁴ abroad, he telleth¹⁷ [it].

All that hate⁶ me whisper¹⁰¹ together against me: against me do they devise⁴ my hurt.

An evil disease, [say they], cleaveth fast⁷ unto him: and [now] that he lieth¹ he shall rise up² no more.⁵⁵

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,¹ which did eat⁶ of my bread, hath lifted up⁵² [his] heel against me.

But thou, O LORD, be merciful³ unto me, and raise me up,⁵⁴ that I may requite¹⁷ them.

By this I know¹ that thou favourest¹ me, because mine enemy⁶ doth not triumph⁵⁵ over me.

And as for me, thou upholdest¹ me in mine integrity, and settest⁵⁵ me before thy face for ever.

Blessed⁷ [be] the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
