Chapter 50

1

A Psalm of Asaph.
The mighty God, [even] the LORD, hath spoken,14 and called4 the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

2

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.52

3

Our God shall come,4 and shall not keep silence:4 a fire shall devour4 before him, and it shall be very tempestuous8 round about him.

4

He shall call4 to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge2 his people.

5

Gather3 my saints together unto me; those that have made6 a covenant with me by sacrifice.

6

And the heavens shall declare55 his righteousness: for God [is] judge6 himself. Selah.

7

Hear,3 O my people, and I will speak;17 O Israel, and I will testify55 against thee: I [am] God, [even] thy God.

8

I will not reprove55 thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, [to have been] continually before me.

9

I will take4 no bullock out of thy house, [nor] he goats out of thy folds.

10

For every beast of the forest [is] mine, [and] the cattle upon a thousand hills.

11

I know1 all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field [are] mine.

12

If I were hungry,4 I would not tell4 thee: for the world [is] mine, and the fulness thereof.

13

Will I eat4 the flesh of bulls, or drink4 the blood of goats?

14

Offer3 unto God thanksgiving; and pay16 thy vows unto the most High:

15

And call3 upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver17 thee, and thou shalt glorify17 me.

16

But unto the wicked God saith,1 What hast thou to do to declare15 my statutes, or [that] thou shouldest take4 my covenant in thy mouth?

17

Seeing thou hatest1 instruction, and castest55 my words behind thee.

18

When thou sawest1 a thief, then thou consentedst4 with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.18

19

Thou givest1 thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth55 deceit.

20

Thou sittest4 [and] speakest17 against thy brother; thou4 slanderest thine own mother's son.

21

These [things] hast thou done,1 and I kept silence;52 thou thoughtest14 that I was altogether2 [such an one] as thyself: [but] I will reprove55 thee, and set [them] in order4 before thine eyes.

22

Now consider3 this, ye that forget6 God, lest I tear [you] in pieces,4 and [there be] none to deliver.56

23

Whoso offereth6 praise glorifieth17 me: and to him that ordereth1 [his] conversation [aright] will I shew55 the salvation of God.
