The Book of Psalms

Chapter 127

1

A Song of degrees for Solomon.
Except the LORD build4 the house, they labour1 in vain that build6 it: except the LORD keep4 the city, the watchman6 waketh1 [but] in vain.

2

[It is] vain for you to rise up2 early,56 to sit up2 late,18 to eat6 the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth4 his beloved sleep.

3

Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.

4

As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man; so [are] children of the youth.

5

Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full14 of them: they shall not be ashamed,4 but they shall speak17 with the enemies6 in the gate.
