Chapter 141

A Psalm of David.
LORD, I cry¹ unto thee: make haste³ unto me; give ear⁵⁴ unto my voice, when I cry² unto thee.

Let my prayer be set forth¹¹ before thee [as] incense; [and] the lifting up of my hands [as] the evening sacrifice.

Set³ a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep³ the door of my lips.

Incline⁵⁵ not my heart to [any] evil thing, to practise¹⁰⁶ wicked works with men that work⁶ iniquity: and let me not eat⁴ of their dainties.

Let the righteous smite⁴ me; [it shall be] a kindness: and let him reprove⁵⁵ me; [it shall be] an excellent oil, [which] shall not break⁵⁵ my head: for yet my prayer also [shall be] in their calamities.

When their judges⁶ are overthrown⁸ in stony places, they shall hear¹ my words; for they are sweet.¹

Our bones are scattered⁸ at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth⁶ and cleaveth⁶ [wood] upon the earth.

But mine eyes [are] unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust;¹ leave not my soul destitute.¹⁷

Keep³ me from the snares [which] they have laid¹ for me, and the gins of the workers⁶ of iniquity.

Let the wicked fall⁴ into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.⁴
