Chapter 143

1

A Psalm of David.
Hear3 my prayer, O LORD, give ear54 to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer3 me, [and] in thy righteousness.

2

And enter4 not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.4

3

For the enemy6 hath persecuted1 my soul; he hath smitten14 my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell52 in darkness, as those that have been long dead.5

4

Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed101 within me; my heart within me is desolate.113

5

I remember1 the days of old; I meditate1 on all thy works; I muse34 on the work of thy hands.

6

I stretch forth14 my hands unto thee: my soul [thirsteth] after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

7

Hear3 me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth:1 hide55 not thy face from me, lest I be like8 unto them that go down6 into the pit.

8

Cause me to hear54 thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust:1 cause me to know54 the way wherein I should walk;4 for I lift up1 my soul unto thee.

9

Deliver54 me, O LORD, from mine enemies:6 I flee unto thee to hide14 me.

10

Teach16 me to do2 thy will; for thou [art] my God: thy spirit [is] good; lead55 me into the land of uprightness.

11

Quicken17 me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out55 of trouble.

12

And of thy mercy cut off55 mine enemies,6 and destroy52 all them that afflict6 my soul: for I [am] thy servant.
