Isaiah 7 | King James Bible |
Chapter 8 | |
| Moreover the LORD said4 unto me, Take3 thee a great roll, and write3 in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz. 7998 2363 957 4122 |
| And I took unto me faithful12 witnesses to record,55 Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. |
| And I went4 unto the prophetess; and she conceived,4 and bare4 a son. Then said4 the LORD to me, Call3 his name Mahershalalhashbaz. 7998 2363 957 4122 |
| For before the child shall have knowledge4 to cry,2 My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away4 before the king of Assyria. |
| |
| Forasmuch as this people refuseth1 the waters of Shiloah that go6 softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son; |
| Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up56 upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, [even] the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up1 over all his channels, and go over1 all his banks: |
| And he shall pass1 through Judah; he shall overflow1 and go over,1 he shall reach55 [even] to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel. 410 |
| Associate3 yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces;3 and give ear,54 all ye of far countries: gird100 yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces;3 gird100 yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.3 |
| Take counsel together,3 and it shall come to nought;93 speak16 the word, and it shall not stand:4 for God [is] with us. |
| For the LORD spake1 thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed14 me that I should not walk2 in the way of this people, saying,2 |
| Say4 ye not, A confederacy, to all [them to] whom this people shall say,4 A confederacy; neither fear4 ye their fear, nor be afraid.55 |
| Sanctify55 the LORD of hosts himself; and [let] him [be] your fear, and [let] him [be] your dread.56 |
| And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants6 of Jerusalem. |
| And many among them shall stumble,1 and fall,1 and be broken,8 and be snared,8 and be taken.8 |
| Bind up3 the testimony, seal3 the law among my disciples. |
| And I will wait14 upon the LORD, that hideth56 his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look14 for him. |
| Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given1 me [are] for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth6 in mount Zion. |
| And when they shall say4 unto you, Seek3 unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep,47 and that mutter:56 should not a people seek4 unto their God? for the living to the dead?5 |
| To the law and to the testimony: if they speak4 not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them. |
| And they shall pass1 through it, hardly bestead12 and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry,4 they shall fret98 themselves, and curse14 their king and their God, and look1 upward. |
| And they shall look55 unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and [they shall be] driven30 to darkness. |
