Isaiah 47 | King James Bible |
Chapter 48 | |
| Hear3 ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called12 by the name of Israel, and are come forth1 out of the waters of Judah, which swear12 by the name of the LORD, and make mention55 of the God of Israel, [but] not in truth, nor in righteousness. |
| For they call8 themselves of the holy city, and stay8 themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts [is] his name. |
| I have declared52 the former things from the beginning; and they went forth1 out of my mouth, and I shewed55 them; I did1 [them] suddenly, and they came to pass.4 |
| Because I knew that thou [art] obstinate, and thy neck [is] an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; |
| I have even from the beginning declared55 [it] to thee; before it came to pass4 I shewed52 [it] thee: lest thou shouldest say,4 Mine idol hath done1 them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded14 them. |
| Thou hast heard,1 see3 all this; and will not ye declare55 [it]? I have shewed52 thee new things from this time, even hidden things,7 and thou didst not know1 them. |
| They are created8 now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest1 them not; lest thou shouldest say,4 Behold, I knew1 them. |
| Yea, thou heardest1 not; yea, thou knewest1 not; yea, from that time [that] thine ear was not opened:14 for I knew1 that thou wouldest deal very2 treacherously,4 and wast called27 a transgressor6 from the womb. |
| For my name's sake will I defer55 mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain4 for thee, that I cut thee not off.53 |
| Behold, I have refined1 thee, but not with silver; I have chosen1 thee in the furnace of affliction. |
| For mine own sake, [even] for mine own sake, will I do4 [it]: for how should [my name] be polluted?11 and I will not give4 my glory unto another. |
| Hearken3 unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called;30 I [am] he; I [am] the first, I also [am] the last. |
| Mine hand also hath laid the foundation1 of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned14 the heavens: [when] I call6 unto them, they stand up4 together. |
| All ye, assemble10 yourselves, and hear;3 which among them hath declared52 these [things]? The LORD hath loved1 him: he will do4 his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm [shall be on] the Chaldeans. |
| I, [even] I, have spoken;14 yea, I have called1 him: I have brought52 him, and he shall make his way prosperous.52 |
| Come ye near3 unto me, hear3 ye this; I have not spoken14 in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there [am] I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent1 me. |
| Thus saith1 the LORD, thy Redeemer,6 the Holy One of Israel; I [am] the LORD thy God which teacheth18 thee to profit,53 which leadeth56 thee by the way [that] thou shouldest go.4 |
| O that thou hadst hearkened52 to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: |
| Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off11 nor destroyed11 from before me. |
| Go ye forth3 of Babylon, flee3 ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare54 ye, tell54 this, utter54 it [even] to the end of the earth; say3 ye, The LORD hath redeemed1 his servant Jacob. |
| And they thirsted1 not [when] he led52 them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow52 out of the rock for them: he clave4 the rock also, and the waters gushed out.4 |
