The Book of the Prophet Isaiah

Chapter 65

1

I am sought8 of [them that] asked1 not [for me]; I am found8 of [them that] sought14 me not: I said,1 Behold me, behold me, unto a nation [that] was not called27 by my name.

2

I have spread out14 my hands all the day unto a rebellious6 people, which walketh6 in a way [that was] not good, after their own thoughts;

3

A people that provoketh me to anger56 continually to my face; that sacrificeth6 in gardens, and burneth incense18 upon altars of brick;

4

Which remain6 among the graves, and lodge4 in the monuments,7 which eat6 swine's flesh, and broth 6564 of abominable [things is in] their vessels;

5

Which say,6 Stand3 by thyself, come not near4 to me; for I am holier1 than thou. These [are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth6 all the day.

6

Behold, [it is] written7 before me: I will not keep silence,4 but will recompense,14 even recompense14 into their bosom,

7

Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith1 the LORD, which have burned incense14 upon the mountains, and blasphemed14 me upon the hills: therefore will I measure1 their former work into their bosom.

8

Thus saith1 the LORD, As the new wine is found11 in the cluster, and [one] saith,1 Destroy55 it not; for a blessing [is] in it: so will I do4 for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy53 them all.

9

And I will bring forth52 a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor6 of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit1 it, and my servants shall dwell4 there.

10

And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought1 me.

11

But ye [are] they that forsake6 the LORD, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare6 a table for that troop, 1408 and that furnish18 the drink offering unto that number.

12

Therefore will I number1 you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down4 to the slaughter: because when I called,1 ye did not answer;1 when I spake,14 ye did not hear;1 but did4 evil before mine eyes, and did choose1 [that] wherein I delighted1 not.

13

Therefore thus saith1 the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat,4 but ye shall be hungry:4 behold, my servants shall drink,4 but ye shall be thirsty:4 behold, my servants shall rejoice,4 but ye shall be ashamed:4

14

Behold, my servants shall sing4 for joy of heart, but ye shall cry4 for sorrow of heart, and shall howl55 for vexation of spirit.

15

And ye shall leave52 your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay52 thee, and call4 his servants by another name:

16

That he who blesseth102 himself in the earth shall bless101 himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth12 in the earth shall swear11 by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten,8 and because they are hid8 from mine eyes.

17

For, behold, I create6 new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered,11 nor come4 into mind.

18

But be ye glad3 and rejoice3 for ever [in that] which I create:6 for, behold, I create6 Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

19

And I will rejoice1 in Jerusalem, and joy1 in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard11 in her, nor the voice of crying.

20

There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled17 his days: for the child shall die4 an hundred years old; but the sinner6 [being] an hundred years old shall be accursed.29

21

And they shall build1 houses, and inhabit1 [them]; and they shall plant1 vineyards, and eat1 the fruit of them.

22

They shall not build,4 and another inhabit;4 they shall not plant,4 and another eat:4 for as the days of a tree [are] the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy17 the work of their hands.

23

They shall not labour4 in vain, nor bring forth4 for trouble; for they [are] the seed of the blessed7 of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

24

And it shall come to pass, that before they call,4 I will answer;4 and while they are yet speaking,18 I will hear.4

25

The wolf and the lamb shall feed4 together, and the lion shall eat4 straw like the bullock: and dust [shall be] the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt55 nor destroy55 in all my holy mountain, saith1 the LORD.
