Isaiah 26 | King James Bible |
Chapter 27 | |
| In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish4 leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay1 the dragon that [is] in the sea. |
| In that day sing16 ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine. 2531 |
| I the LORD do keep6 it; I will water55 it every moment: lest [any] hurt4 it, I will keep4 it night and day. |
| Fury [is] not in me: who would set4 the briers [and] thorns against me in battle? I would go4 through them, I would burn55 them together. |
| Or let him take hold55 of my strength, [that] he may make4 peace with me; [and] he shall make4 peace with me. |
| He shall cause them that come6 of Jacob to take root:55 Israel shall blossom55 and bud,1 and fill1 the face of the world with fruit. |
| Hath he smitten52 him, as he smote those that smote56 him? [or] is he slain27 according to the slaughter of them that are slain7 by him? |
| In measure, when it shooteth forth,15 thou wilt debate4 with it: he stayeth1 his rough wind in the day of the east wind. |
| By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged;29 and this [is] all the fruit to take away53 his sin; when he maketh2 all the stones of the altar as chalkstones 1615 that are beaten in sunder,30 the groves and images shall not stand up.4 |
| Yet the defenced7 city [shall be] desolate, [and] the habitation forsaken,30 and left12 like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed,4 and there shall he lie down,4 and consume14 the branches thereof. |
| When the boughs thereof are withered,2 they shall be broken off:11 the women come,6 [and] set them on fire:56 for it [is] a people of no understanding: therefore he that made6 them will not have mercy17 on them, and he that formed6 them will shew them no favour.4 |
| And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the LORD shall beat off4 from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered29 one by one, O ye children of Israel. |
| And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the great trumpet shall be blown,11 and they shall come1 which were ready to perish6 in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts12 in the land of Egypt, and shall worship98 the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem. |
